Position Summary:

As part of the Strategic Workforce Planning team in ScotRail’s Human Resources Directorate, this role will help to embed workforce planning across the organisation by working with each directorate on their forecasting plans and utilising reports and tools to support Heads of Service and Managers.

This role will play a key part in producing detailed workforce, management information and data analysis to inform decision making and lead on regular reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including the Rail Delivery Group, Scottish Government and other partners.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder engagement and collaboration with other public service providers on workforce planning and related issues/initiatives
  • Actively support improvements in the linkages between forecasting, recruitment, and training
  • Produce regular and ad-hoc workforce reports and management information, including the added value narrative required to assist decision-making
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of a programme of Workforce Planning workshops for ScotRail staff
  • Work with directorates to embed workforce and resource planning across ScotRail
  • Lead on regular reporting to Internal/External Stakeholders
  • Maintain, update and enhance ScotRail’s workforce forecasting tools and the HR reporting dashboard
  • Provide advice and support to colleagues on workforce planning related issues
  • Contribute to, and support the development, delivery and ongoing improvement of ScotRail’s strategic approach to workforce planning.
  • Work with wider HR team to provide support in relation to HR systems
  • Support Heads of Service and managers with medium to longer term workforce forecasting

Requirements & Skills:

  • Ability to quickly establish collaborative working relationship at all levels.
  • Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information and concepts to individuals and groups.
  • Excellent IT skills and experience of using Microsoft Office packages in particular Microsoft Excel.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and managers.
  • Experience of using Power BI
  • Data analysis skills and the ability to prepare concise and accurate reports.
  • Excellent verbal, written, numerical and presentation skills

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience of working within a HR team and HR system
  • Relevant degree or job experience.
